Emma is a classical and contemporary actor born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She is fresh off graduating from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School's International Acting MA in the UK and is returning to the states to set up camp in Chicago to pursue a career primarily in theatre, to grow as an artist, and to collaborate on new projects. An alumna of the University of Chicago's Theatre and Performance Studies Department, she has a background in Classics with a particular emphasis on Greco-Roman theatre and the translation, adaptation and performance thereof.
Emma can be found at RhinoFest 2019 in Underworld Anthem, a devised piece centered around the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice portraying the goddess Persephone, as well as dramaturging and providing custom translations of the Orphic Hymns and selections of Ovid.
"...Emma Pauly was very convincing in all different parts she played....Good actors declaim their lines and excellent actors connect with the audience as though they were having a conversation; this cast had both. - Mad Forest, StageTalk Magazine, July 19th 2018
“Praise goes to the whole cast …for maintaining a high overall quality, not least in remaining committed to the atmosphere of secret feminine powers in all their many avatars, from hilarious to sweet to dangerous and to deeply tragic. But to Vanessa Cate as well as choreographers Melody and Melrose plus translator Pauly goes that extra bit of praise.” -HEX, Night-Tinted Glasses, October 2016
